Welcome to the Evolution of Yoga Summit, brought to you by Accessible Yoga and the Yoga Service Council, presented by Yoga Alliance and Hosted By LMU’s Masters of Arts in Yoga Studies!

The weekend will begin with all participants and presenters together for the Opening Plenary Session followed by a Reception with refreshments and an opportunity to meet and greet participants and presenters.

Saturday morning begins with an optional group practice. Please select which class you would like to take -- one class will be chair based and one class mat based. Mats and optional props will be provided. There will be a one hour break after the practice for you to find some breakfast and prepare for the day.

Next, you will choose which Track you would like to participate in (please select only one). You will stay with your Track for the rest of the day on Saturday, starting at 9:30am and ending at 5:30pm. A more detailed schedule of your Track will be provided to you closer to date, but be prepared to spend part of the day in a workshop setting with movement and part of the day in a conversation/discussion format. A catered lunch, sponsored by the Yoga Alliance Foundation, will be provided on Saturday.

Sunday morning, you are welcome to join another optional group practice. At 9:30am, the whole group will come together again for a Closing Plenary Session. The weekend’s events will conclude at 1pm on Sunday.

More details will be provided as we get closer to the event. We look forward to being with you soon!

Limited Capacity seats available

The Addressing Cultural Appropriation track invites practitioners to explore questions and nuances raised within the context of yoga and Cultural Appropriation.  We will consider the fine line between Cultural Appreciation and Cultural Appropriation. We will also assess the impacts within the Indian and South Asian diasporic context as well as Black and Indigenous Native American culture. Cultural appropriation involves a degeneration of primordial cultural rituals and wisdom, so we will also explore the depth, creativity and richness of indigenous rites and practices that are often missing from modern postural practices. We will explore and practice restoration of ancestral wisdom and other yogic cultural elements.
